The Witch from Aschberg

A farmer in Aschberg near Fürsteneck had two maids in service, one of the maid, a so-called "big maid", was a witch, the other maid was friendly.

One day, they had to mow the grass, but it's started to rain and the big maid said: "Today, I don't want to work. I will leave work and I will sleep near the big stones next to the trees. If you want, I will find help for you." The nice maid said: "Yes!", because the work was really not easy. Then they sat down and the little maid saw two men and they worked for the two maids. A minute later, the workmen were ready. Wow!

One day later, the big maid had to go into the kitchen to cook, she said to the nice maid: "Do you want to go inside?" "Yes!", said the little maid and so she waited with the big maid in the kitchen and then the big maid put water in a big bottle and let the small maid look into the bottle of water. Suddenly, the devil came out of the water and hunted the small maid, but she was faster and ran into the church. The devil didn't go into the church. He sank into the ground. The little maid went fast to her boss and said: "Boss, the big maid was a witch and she mustn't escape us! Please, Master!" and then they caught the terrible witch. They threw her into the fire and let her burn until her terrible death. The farmer married the very nice maid and so all of them were lucky.
